ICCFN 2025
Virtualized Real-Time Flow-based IDPS on ICCFN 2025
From 22 to 24 December 2025, the International Conference on Cybertechnology and Future Networks (ICCFN2025) was held at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Smart Village, Egypt. The conference provided an interdisciplinary forum for discussing current advances in cybertechnology and future networked systems, with a particular focus on resilient and trustworthy digital infrastructures.
What was on offer?
ICCFN2025 featured a broad technical program covering cybertechnology and future network research. The main conference tracks included 6G and future networks, cybersecurity and risk management with sensitive data management, federated resource management, business and innovation in cybertechnology entrepreneurship, AI and machine learning, quantum computing and quantum communication, natural language processing, multimedia with computer vision and image processing, and mobile systems with distributed computing. In addition to research paper sessions, the conference program included workshops, industry forums, demo sessions, and a PhD forum, enabling participants to discuss emerging topics, present prototypes, and engage with both academic and industry perspectives.
Our presentation:
Mamdouh Muhammad presented the paper “Virtualized Real-Time Flow-based IDPS for Modbus TCP/IP Traffic” which proposes a real-time Intrusion Detection and Prevention System for Modbus TCP environments. The work integrates a lightweight virtualized testbed using Linux namespaces and port mirroring for passive monitoring, compact flow feature extraction aligned with Modbus TCP semantics, and unsupervised anomaly detection using Isolation Forest supported by protocol-aware rules and adaptive thresholds. The system targets high impact threat classes including Denial of Service (DoS), Replay attacks, and False Data Injection (FDI), and supports automated mitigation through dynamic blocking of malicious sources. The conference proceedings will be published in Springer Nature proceedings with Gold Open Access.
