Winter Semester 2026/27 – Future Communication Technologies for Critical Cyber-Physical Systems
This seminar addresses current and emerging communication technologies for critical cyber-physical and technical systems, including industrial automation, energy systems, transportation, and other critical infrastructures. The focus is on communication technologies and mechanisms that provide low and deterministic latency, high reliability, resilience, scalability, precise synchronization, and differentiated Quality of Service (QoS). Topics include 5G/6G, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Deterministic Networking (DetNet), IoT technologies, Network Slicing, Edge Computing, heterogeneous network integration, and resilient communication architectures.
Seminar presentations combine the technical foundations of each communication technology with representative applications in critical systems, such as protection and control, monitoring, distributed sensing, and autonomous operation. Particular emphasis is placed on communication mechanisms and architectures that support stringent Quality of Service (QoS), resilience, scalability, heterogeneous IoT/TSN integration, and model-based validation in safety-critical cyber-physical systems.
