SAFECOMP 2026

September 22–25, 2026, Valencia, Spain

This year marked the 45th edition of the International Conference on Computer Safety, Reliability, and Security (SAFECOMP). The Chair of Computer Networks and Communication Systems (Computer Science 7) participated in the conference and presented its latest research findings, represented by Dr.-Ing. Loui Al Sardy.

The paper, “ML-Powered Test Case Prioritisation: Leveraging Code Changes for Optimal Testing” authored by Loui Al Sardy, Niklas Markert, and Reinhard German, was presented in Session Testing
on the final day of the conference.

The work investigates how machine learning and information about source-code changes can be used to improve regression test-case prioritisation. Using industrial testing data, the approach learns from previous test executions, code changes, and test characteristics to prioritise test cases that are more likely to reveal failures earlier. The evaluation demonstrates the potential of change-aware machine-learning approaches to provide faster feedback during software testing while highlighting the importance of retaining explicit safety-critical testing requirements.

SAFECOMP brought together researchers and practitioners working across computer safety, reliability, security, dependable systems, and AI-based systems. The conference also provided valuable opportunities for discussions on the increasingly important interaction between artificial intelligence, safety, and cybersecurity, as well as for establishing new research contacts and exploring future collaborations.

We thank the SAFECOMP 2026 organising committee and session chairs for an excellent conference and the opportunity to present and discuss our research with the international safety and dependability community.
