Dr.-Ing. Loui Al Sardy, Group Leader for Network Security at the Lab of Computer Science 7 (Computer Networks and Communication Systems), participated in the Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystem (RIE) Conference 2025, hosted at the Siemens Campus in Erlangen.

Under the theme “Technology Drives Sustainability”, the event brought together experts and thought leaders from academia, industry, startups, and research institutions to explore how cutting-edge technologies can drive meaningful transformation toward sustainability.

Key focus areas included:

  • AI and modular technologies for sustainable innovation
  • Decarbonization of industrial sites and infrastructure
  • Life Cycle Assessment and supply chain transparency
  • Sustainable Software Engineering
  • Circularity and federated data spaces

Participants from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, TH Nürnberg, University of Technology Nuremberg, Fraunhofer, ZOLLHOF, and NKubator joined in keynote speeches, fishbowl discussions, interactive sessions, and focused workshops aimed at translating technological innovation into sustainable practice.

A particular highlight was the Open Industry-Academia Fishbowl Discussion, featuring contributions from Dr. Roland Busch (Siemens CEO), Prof. Joachim Hornegger (FAU President), and Dr. Eva Riesenhuber (Head of Sustainability, Siemens), moderated by James Schofield.

Dr. Al Sardy joined other academic and industry peers in discussions on advancing sustainable digital transformation, underscoring the role of cybersecurity and trustworthy AI in enabling resilient.
