From 20 to 22 August 2025, the first Nordic Energy Informatics Academy Conference 2025 (EIA Nordic 2025) took place in Stockholm, Sweden – naturally at the renowned KTH Royal Institute of Technology. In conjunction with this, exciting hands-on sessions were held at the EIA Nordic Summer School on Smart Buildings from 18 to 19 August.

What was on offer?
The conference was a melting pot of topics such as smart grids, IoT, digital twins, AI, policy management and sector coupling – all in the context of sustainable energy systems. Particularly cool: we visited the KTH Live-In Lab – an impressive test environment that is directly integrated into various KTH buildings and, in addition to extensive data collection, examines the building and energy management systems of the sustainable future. There it became clear: innovation is not just simulation, but takes place directly in the living environment!

Our presentation:
Our research assistant Jonathan Fellerer presented his paper „Proper definitions of micro grid metrics are needed! – a generalizable framework“ in the section „Policy, Metrics, and Infrastructure Performance“. The presentation was particularly exciting because it ideally combined technical precision with political relevance. The publications will appear in an LNCS volume published by Springer.
