On behalf of Siemens AG, a team from the Computer Science 7 chair investigated an approach from Siemens AG for scheduling time-critical streams in PROFINET over TSN. The approach was examined both theoretically and by developing comparisons using various Network Calculus approaches. The goal of the investigated approach was, among other things, to distribute time-critical streams in Time-Sensitive Networks to cyclic transmission phases and to guarantee their arrival at the receiver before their respective deadlines. Thereby, all interfering network traffic/cross traffic is considered. From our chair, the group for this project consisted of:

Prof. Dr. Reinhard German
Dr. Kai-Steffen Hielscher
Lisa Maile, M.Sc.
Anna Arestova, M.Sc.

The project was successfully completed and further cooperation was also discussed. PROFINET over TSN is used for industrial automation; Information on this can be found, e.g., here.
