Enhancing Smart Grid Security: A Deep Learning Approach to Adversarial Intrusion Detection

Smart grids are modern energy infrastructures that integrate digital communication and automation to enhance efficiency and reliability. However, their increased reliance on digital technologies exposes them to significant cybersecurity threats, particularly through communication protocols like Distributed Network Protocol 3 (DNP3). Traditional Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) struggle to counter sophisticated cyberattacks, including adversarial machine learning techniques that manipulate input data to bypass security measures. This thesis aims to develop a robust IDS that can effectively detect and mitigate adversarial attacks in smart grid environments.
